What's Playing in your head?

I'm excited that vinyl records are making a comeback. It's been an interesting evolution as to how we first recorded thoughts and music and pictures all the way up until today where it's in the cloud.
This made me think a little bit about whose scripting or creating and applying those thoughts running through our heads every day.
Sometimes it might feel like there is a tape, disc or reel running in your head that's telling you what to do or not to do, clear at times where it's coming from and often it's not. It may appear to get stuck on a particular thing or skip a beat like the old and now new vinyl records. Your values, thoughts and habits determine output or are the artists creating your tape or record daily, weekly and yearly.
Your life's story or narrative are likely two separate things.
Story is a series of events.
Narrative is the story mediated through the teller.
My question and challenge are this?
Who is writing or mediating your story or narrative?
Following is one person's opinion on that:
"Inner poverty is one of the great curses of our age; it stems from prayerlessness, our addiction to noise and our obsession with the continual distractions provided by the outer world"-Matthew Kelly, The Forgotten Way.
A lot might be determined by the foundation established growing up and how nature and the environment got you on a track. The point is that daily we are bombarded with thousands of incoming ads, opinions, media messages, texts, Instagram feeds et cetera and it's shaping our thoughts and days; not the other way around which is we shaping our own daily narrative.
Not all inputs are bad; there are many good feedback sources and inputs.
But remember you're in charge; how do you consciously shape it by scheduling inputs and reliable/known sources, select readings, align with values and apply it, and also recognize when you're off track.
I know we are going to be surrounded by robots, self-driving cars and self-flying planes; do you wonder how they will be programmed and who's writing their narrative?
We are still the programmers last I checked, so I think I need to start with more effectively measuring my inputs and programming my outputs resulting in the narrative of my choosing.
There is nothing artificial about the intelligence you use to determine your narrative.
All those shows like Star Wars , Lost in Space and Star Trek had robots and programmed responses which is not science fiction but reality . Heed C3PO or Will Robinson's robots warning:
Danger Danger ,Will Robinson !
What do you want your story to be and what are you doing to shape it and tell it ?
